625 pounds of music from J.W. Pepper, 24 cellos of all sizes from Rachel Barton Pine’s Global Heartstrings Foundation and from Seaman Violins: violins, violas, trombones, clarinets, a tuba, close to 100 recorders and more!
With the help of generous donors, BLUME Haiti sent all this to Haiti in June and, at the end of August, just days before our board president left the country, we successfully completed a distribution to 24 music programs spread throughout the country!
All told, we sent 5 pallets weighing nearly 1900 lbs to Haiti. This was a learning experience for us and we are exploring ways to make shipping instruments, music and supplies to Haiti less costly and more efficient. As always, it was worth it all to see the looks of delight and deep gratitude as representatives from various programs came to pick up their donations. All will be used to help advance the cause of music education in Haiti and we thank you for your support!
